This is the original description of L. productus.
Denning, D.G. 1948 New and little known species of Nearctic Trichoptera. Psyche 55: 16-23.
The author created a second name and description on page 18 and named this insect Limnephilus utahensis. Ross and Merkley, 1952 (see below) realized this was a duplicate and now L. utahensis is invalid.

The authors realized Limnephilus utahensis by Denning 1948 was a synonym. Quote from page 454: "To date this species is kown only from Utah. There appears to be extremely little variation in the species, judging from examination of Banks' type, additional material from Utah and Dennings's illustrations. "
